Buenos Aires, April 6 (NA) – Despite his visceral rejection of social movements, National Deputy from Encuentro Federal Miguel Pichetto met with the mayor of Moreno, Mariel Fernández, who has her roots in the Evita Movement and seeks to establish herself as a possible candidate for Governor of Buenos Aires Province for 2027. The unexpected photo of the veteran leader with the Kirchnerist municipal head confirms the former's intention to seek bridges of dialogue with peronist sectors with whom he had been distanced, even if this means reviewing his own postulates against the 'culture of poverty' and the pickets promoted by social organizations. The arc that Pichetto described in a few years speaks for itself: from head of the Senate block of the Front for Victory to Vice Presidential candidate for Mauricio Macri and an active member of Together for Change, to once again begin to flirt with peronism in the middle of Javier Milei's government. The one-on-one meeting he held with Cristina Kirchner in the apartment in the Constitución neighborhood, where the former president is serving her sentence, broke the ice and unblocked the approach of the former senator from Río Negro with Kirchnerist sectors. Mariel Fernández has ties with Emilio Pérsico, the leader of the Evita Movement, although in recent years, alongside her project to succeed Axel Kicillof in the province, she began to move with a certain degree of autonomy, to the point of founding the Reconquista group in an event with leaders from different sectors of peronism. During the meeting, Pichetto and the mayor of Moreno 'analyzed the impact of the measures on economic activity, employment, and the situation of the most vulnerable sectors, and agreed on the need to build a popular government again that defends the national industry, sovereignty, and economic development, with a focus on the well-being of the population,' a communiqué accessed by the Argentine News Agency reported. The deputy from the Unidos interblock highlighted the figure of the mayor of Moreno: 'It is important that peronism has a figure like her, she is a very talented and prepared woman, who is carrying out a great task in her second term.' He also stressed the need to strengthen the unity of peronism: 'We have the responsibility to integrate to build an alternative that represents Argentina of work and production, that is close to the needs of our people and to take charge of the situation we are going through.' The meeting is part of a series of meetings that the legislator has been holding with territorial leaders across the country, with the objective of strengthening a common agenda oriented towards economic growth and social cohesion.
